Security alert: contactless bank cards

New bank cards include a contactless payment system, identified by its symbol.

This symbol means your card emits data used by the payment terminal: your name, surname and banking information needed for the transaction. The problem is that the security of this system is weak.

A malicious person with an amplified receiver may be able to read this data without your knowledge.

The simple and effective protection is to place your card in a sleeve that blocks these emissions.

Protective sleeves for bank cards are available with openings at the top or side.

Update: with progress in electronics and devices, the detection range can now reach several metres, whereas it previously required close contact.

It is therefore increasingly important to use a protective sleeve or wallet that blocks RFID waves.
